Lions Clubs provide eye exams and low-cost glasses in Mexico
Lions Club organizations in Mexico have conducted visual health campaigns to provide eye examinations and affordable eyewear to local communities.
In Pueblito Mexicano, the Club de Leones Flor del Desierto completed a visual health fair that served over 1,000 people. The initiative allowed individuals aged 14 and older to receive eye exams and purchase prescription glasses for 150 pesos. Club president José María Acosta Urrutia noted that demand exceeded expectations, with daily attendance often reaching over 200 people.
In Reynosa, Tamaulipas, the Club de Leones Reynosa Internacional is participating in a Back-to-School Fair at the Municipal Auditorium. In collaboration with Profeco and Canaco, the club is offering free eye exams and screenings for conditions such as pterygium, alongside low-cost graduated lenses to support family economies during the school season.
