Lions International clubs expand membership and hold advisory meetings in West Africa
Lions International clubs in West Africa are reporting significant organizational activities and membership growth. In Cotonou, Benin, the first advisory committee meeting for zones 112 and 121 was held on September 25, 2026. Led by presidents Éric Nagnonhou and Rosemonde Michaï, the meeting focused on reviewing the first quarter's activities, including club performance, membership dues, and fundraising efforts for community service. Rosemonde Michaï noted that while progress has been made, clubs must continue to improve their operational methods.
Simultaneously, District 403 A3, under the leadership of Governor Arouna Nikiema, has seen a surge in recruitment. Recent weekend activities resulted in 17 new Lions and 19 new Leo members joining the organization. Additionally, a new Leo Club consisting of 20 members was established. This growth is particularly evident in Zone 202, where clubs such as Ouagadougou Acacia, Ouagadougou Meetba, and Ouagadougou Éclair have welcomed new members, and the Ouagadougou Alliance club has launched its second Leo Club, named Ouagadougou Excellence.
