Lions Sustainability Award 2026 honors Austrian social initiatives

The Lions Sustainability Award 2026 has recognized two distinct initiatives in Austria for their commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the Inn-Salzach EUREGIO, the SimplyWomen project was honored for its work regarding SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). The project, which ran from April 2025 to March 2026, utilized various participation formats, including the establishment of a regional Women's Council, to strengthen the influence and decision-making power of women in the Innviertel-Hausruck region.

Additionally, the association ‘Ich bin ich – anders, na und?’ was awarded for its long-standing support of children with disabilities. Based in Bad Ischl, the self-help group for affected parents has operated for nearly three decades, managing residential and workshop facilities such as ‘M 3’ and ‘Kolibri’ in Ebensee. The award recognizes their social and charitable contributions to the community.
