LionWing Publishing to release English edition of Touhou tabletop RPG

LionWing Publishing has announced an English-language release of Gensou Narratograph: The Roleplaying Game Based on Touhou, scheduled for 2027. Originally published in Japan by Kadokawa in 2023, the official tabletop RPG is set in the Gensokyo setting of the Touhou Project franchise.

The game is designed for one to four players and a Game Master, utilizing six-sided dice. It features a gameplay system called ‘Danmaku Duels,’ which is inspired by the series’ signature bullet-hell mechanics. This system allows players to resolve conflicts through stylized spell card battles rather than traditional combat.

Beyond combat, the game emphasizes ‘cozy slice-of-life storytelling,’ allowing players to explore the daily lives of characters in a world of humans, yokai, and magic. The English rulebook will include 30 playable characters, such as Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame, as well as a new map featuring 21 locales within Gensokyo.
