Lior Cinnamon recalled in six states due to lead contamination
Galil Importing Corp. has initiated a voluntary recall of Lior Cinnamon Ground Seasoning after testing by the Maryland Department of Health revealed elevated levels of lead. The product was distributed to retail stores, supermarkets, and delis across six U.S. states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, and Illinois.
The affected product is sold in 3.2-ounce (90-gram) clear plastic containers with UPC 794711005484 and lot code GAP11304. The distribution period spanned from November 18, 2025, to September 7, 2026. While no illnesses have been reported, health officials warn that repeated exposure to lead can cause serious health issues, particularly in young children whose developing brains are highly sensitive to the metal.
Galil Importing Corp. is conducting a supplier investigation and has implemented enhanced testing protocols to prevent future occurrences. Consumers who purchased the affected cinnamon are advised to discard the product or return it for a refund.
