Lip Care Trends Shift to Hydrating Oils and Revamped Matte Formulas
Lip oils are experiencing strong growth, sparked by Clarins' Lip Comfort Oil and amplified on TikTok, where the product has garnered nearly 11 million views. Klarna reports a 70 % rise in online searches for lip oils from January to May 2026. Brands such as Milk Makeup, Gisou, Glowery, Yepoda and Rare Beauty have introduced their own variants, emphasizing nourishing plant oils, vibrant pigments and non‑sticky textures.
At the same time, matte lipsticks are being reformulated to address past concerns about dryness. New formulas incorporate emollients and hyaluronic acid, delivering a velvety, hydrating finish described as “texture fondante, pigmentation intense, without drying.” Products like Phantom Blur Balm (Hourglass Cosmetics) and Blur Butter (Rem Beauty) illustrate the shift toward comfortable, long‑lasting matte color.
