Lip dryness and discoloration risks during autumn

As weather transitions from summer to autumn, the decrease in humidity can lead to significant lip dryness and peeling. Unlike other skin areas, lips lack sweat and sebaceous glands, meaning they cannot produce a natural lipid layer to retain moisture. This biological limitation makes them highly susceptible to rapid water evaporation when air humidity drops.

Additionally, autumn sunlight can contribute to lip discoloration. Although temperatures are cooler, UVA rays remain active and can penetrate the thin protective barrier of the lips. This exposure triggers increased melanin production as a defense mechanism, which can result in darkened or dull-looking lips.
