Lipari community health hub suffers water infiltration after opening

The newly inaugurated Casa della Comunità Hub in Lipari has experienced water infiltration issues only days after its opening. The Asp di Messina (Messina Health Authority) has issued a statement describing the situation as “not acceptable” for a newly completed public work funded by significant public resources.

In response, the Asp di Messina has immediately suspended all payments directly or indirectly connected to the project. The authority has initiated formal disputes against the executing company and the works management team to determine responsibility, potential omissions, or technical supervision failures. The agency stated it will pursue legal action for material damages and harm to its reputation if critical issues are confirmed.

Despite the damage, healthcare services at the facility have not ceased. Scheduled visits and nursing clinic services remain operational, with the authority ensuring that medical services continue as long as safety conditions allow. The Asp has ordered urgent repairs to be carried out at no additional cost to the health agency, with the expenses to be borne by those found responsible.
