Lipowa road damage to be addressed with retaining wall by 2027

A damaged section of the county road connecting Lipowa to Słotwina in Poland is scheduled for permanent repairs involving the construction of a retaining wall. The issues at Poddzielec Street began approximately six years ago when the Kalonka stream damaged the roadway. While warning signs were installed, a permanent solution was delayed due to jurisdictional discussions between the Żywiec County Road Authority and Wody Polskie.

The situation escalated on September 14, 2024, following heavy rainfall that caused significant erosion and road damage, forcing a two-day closure and subsequent temporary repairs that restricted traffic to a single lane.

Following the acquisition of funding, a contractor has been selected to begin the project. The current phase involves creating design documentation, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year or mid-January 2027 at the latest. All construction work must be finalized and accepted by May 21, 2027.
