Lipu to manage Lago di Sibolla Nature Reserve

The management of the Lago di Sibolla Nature Reserve in Altopascio has been entrusted to Lipu. Following a public tender, the organization will oversee the visitor center and natural paths for the 2026-2031 period.

Starting in 2027, the visitor center will be open a minimum of 160 days per year. The new management plan includes guided tours, educational activities for schools, and scientific monitoring of flora and fauna. Plans are also underway to improve accessibility for individuals with reduced mobility by June 2027, alongside the development of new birdwatching points and multimedia paths.

To support environmental protection, the Municipality has secured regional funding to employ three Lipu volunteer environmental guards. These guards will assist local police and forest Carabinieri in preventing illegal activities such as poaching and littering.
