Liquid Intelligent and Taara Deploy Wireless Optical Networks in Lagos, Nigeria
Liquid Intelligent Technologies is using Taara's wireless optical (light‑beam) technology to provide high‑capacity broadband links across Lagos. Nearly a dozen live links, each capable of up to 20 Gbps over distances of up to 20 km, now serve banks, hotels, utilities and local internet service providers, reducing downtime caused by fiber cuts.
The system transmits data through focused beams of light, allowing links to be installed and activated within hours or days rather than weeks required for traditional fiber trenching. Acting CEO Eugene Uka said the speed of deployment is a major advantage, while Taara regional lead Bhavesh Mistry noted that the technology complements existing fiber and gives operators more flexibility to expand and reinforce networks.
Liquid Intelligent plans to extend the wireless optical solution to other Nigerian cities such as Abuja, Ibadan and Kano, aiming to improve network resilience and reach areas where fiber deployment is costly or impractical.
