Sorocaba launches permanent weekend service for Trem dos Operários

The Trem dos Operários in Sorocaba has transitioned from a commemorative event to a permanent weekend leisure option. Starting August 22 and 23, 2026, the service will offer trips on Saturdays at 10:30 and 14:00, and on Sundays at 10:30.

Managed by Sorocabana – Movimento de Preservação Ferroviária, the tours utilize historical locomotives, including a 1948 General Electric diesel-electric model and the traditional Locomotive No. 58. The 4 km round-trip route follows the historical path used by workers from Indústrias Votorantim to the former Vila Assis Station. The experience includes a guided visit to the Museu da Tecelagem in Vila Hortência.

Ticket proceeds are dedicated to the recovery of historical heritage and the preservation of Brazilian railway memory. The service departs from Estação Paula Souza in the city center.
