Liranyi Alonso wins 100m gold at Muscat Grand Prix

Dominican sprinter Liranyi Alonso achieved significant success at the Muscat Grand Prix in Oman, securing both gold and silver medals. In the 100-meter dash, Alonso clocked a time of 11.14 seconds despite a headwind of -0.4 m/s, earning the gold medal. She finished ahead of Singapore’s Veronica Shanti Pereira, who took second with 11.36 seconds, and Qatar’s Dana Noor Salem, who placed third with 11.54 seconds.

Alonso also earned a silver medal in the 200-meter event with a time of 23.00 seconds. In that race, Veronica Shanti Pereira took the top spot with a time of 22.78 seconds, while Aminat Kamarudeen of the United Arab Emirates finished third with 23.33 seconds.

These performances follow a series of strong international showings for the 20-year-old athlete, including recent podium finishes in Serbia, Italy, and Poland.
