Liridona Ademaj murder case moves to Kosovo Court of Appeals

The case involving the murder of Liridona Ademaj is set to return to court as the Kosovo Court of Appeals has scheduled a hearing for October 29, 2026. This follows an appeal by the legal representatives of Naim Murseli and Granit Plava, who were previously sentenced to life imprisonment by the Basic Court in Pristina.

While Murseli had previously denied involvement, his legal team is now seeking a reduction in the sentence. The family of the victim, represented by her brother Leonard Ademaj, has expressed strong opposition to the appeal. The family maintains that the original life sentences should remain in force, stating that any reduction would denigrate the victim and all victims of femicide.

The original 124-page judgment from the Basic Court concluded that Naim Murseli organized the murder, with Granit Plava and Kushtrim Kokalla also found to be involved through co-perpetration and assistance.
