Lisa Demuth calls for firing of Minnesota state officials over fraud response

Republican House Speaker and gubernatorial candidate Lisa Demuth has called for the dismissal of two Minnesota state agency leaders following reports of slow administrative responses to significant government fraud. Demuth specifically targeted Assistant Education Commissioner Daron Korte and Department of Children, Youth and Families Deputy Commissioner Leah Montgomery.

Demuth criticized Governor Tim Walz for failing to terminate employees despite widespread fraud, including the ‘Feeding Our Future’ cases. She also criticized U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar for her perceived lack of aggression regarding the issue. In response, Klobuchar stated that the fraud should have been caught earlier and pledged to launch a top-to-bottom audit of state government and strengthen criminal penalties if elected.
