Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino tease Romy and Michele sequel

Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino appeared at Disney’s D23 Entertainment Showcase in Anaheim to discuss the upcoming sequel to their 1997 comedy, ‘Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion’. The production, directed by Tim Federle and written by Robin Schiff, is slated for release exclusively on Hulu.

In the new film, the characters continue to run their Beverly Hills fashion boutique. The plot follows the duo as they attend a classmate’s wedding, leading them to reflect on their romantic lives in relation to their friendship and careers. Keegan-Michael Key is set to play Michele’s new love interest, while Rob Huebel will appear opposite Romy.

During the event, both actresses expressed initial nerves regarding the sequel. Kudrow noted her fear of merely imitating her original character, while Sorvino shared similar concerns about authenticity before eventually feeling the characters had returned to them.
