Lisa McClain urges GOP to focus on economy and combat communism

House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain has urged her party to focus on economic successes and combat what she describes as the influence of communism within the Democratic Party during the midterm campaign.

Speaking at a Republican convention in Dallas, Texas, McClain characterized the upcoming election as a “battle for the soul of the nation.” She argued that voters must choose between “common sense” and “communist crazy,” drawing comparisons between the Democratic platform and regimes in Cuba, North Korea, and the Soviet Union.

McClain emphasized Republican accomplishments under former President Donald Trump, specifically citing tax cuts as a key messaging point. She also criticized the current administration, stating that Republicans are working to recover from a “massive hole” left by President Biden. She further alleged that the Democratic platform includes radical goals such as defunding the police and packing the Supreme Court.
