Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley has expressed deep distress over AI-generated fake news circulating on social media. The actress, known for her role as Mandy Dingle, was targeted by fabricated images depicting her with ultrasound scans and newborn babies, falsely suggesting she was pregnant.

Riley described the rumors as ‘horrendous’ and ‘absolutely horrendous,’ questioning how such lies are permitted to enter the public domain. The misinformation has been particularly sensitive given Riley’s previous openness regarding her experiences with infertility and IVF treatment.

ITV issued a statement on behalf of the cast of Emmerdale and Coronation Street, noting that numerous AI-generated Facebook pages are spreading fake news about actors and their respective programs. The broadcaster warned that these posts are ‘extremely hurtful and damaging to reputations’ and urged the public to follow only genuine news outlets and report fraudulent content.
