Lisa sets record for most MTV VMA nominations by a K-pop solo artist

Lisa has set a new record as the K-pop solo artist with the most MTV Video Music Award nominations in history. Following the announcement of the 2026 MTV VMA nominees, she received four nominations for her work on ‘DREAM’, featuring Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi. These nominations include Best Pop, Best K-pop, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.

With these additions, Lisa has reached a total of 10 career VMA nominations, surpassing Rosé, who holds eight. The singer has maintained a perfect record in the Best K-pop category, having previously won the award for ‘LALISA’, ‘ROCKSTAR’, and her collaboration ‘Born Again’.

In a recent interview with Vogue Korea, Lisa reflected on her journey, including her decision at age 13 to change her name from Pranpriya Manobal to Lalisa Manobal following spiritual advice. She also discussed her early training years in South Korea as the first foreign trainee for YG Entertainment, starting her career at age 14.
