Lisa Slater urges mental‑health help after son Nathan's suicide

Lisa Slater, a 41‑year‑old mother from Wallasey, England, spoke publicly nearly two years after her 18‑year‑old son Nathan Slater died by suicide on 9 November 2024. She said she had been unaware of his mental‑health struggles and described the death as a "total shock" for the family. Nathan had recently shared his hopes for the future, including plans to start a family, and had pursued music, DJing and boxing. On the night before his death he called a friend at 1 a.m. to apologise, and the friend found the house empty the next morning, forcing a bedroom door open to discover Nathan had taken his own life. Lisa now urges anyone experiencing mental‑health difficulties to reach out for help and reflects on her son's talent and the lasting impact of his loss.
