Lisa Vittozzi confirms continued biathlon career after Olympic success

Italian biathlete Lisa Vittozzi has confirmed her decision to continue her professional career following a highly successful period. At 31, Vittozzi recently achieved the “Triple Crown” by winning Olympic gold, a World Championship title, and the overall World Cup, including an Olympic gold medal in the pursuit during the 2026 Winter Games.

Vittozzi addressed her recent training shifts, noting that while she previously followed an individual training program, she has now returned to training with the Italian national team. She described the previous period of solo training as difficult due to the loneliness, whereas reintegrating with her teammates has provided a sense of belonging and reduced the personal pressure she felt.

Despite being one of the older competitors in the sport, Vittozzi stated she remains highly motivated and driven by a desire to win rather than simply competing for second place. Her return to the national group is viewed positively by teammates, such as Hannah Auchentaller, who noted Vittozzi serves as a role model for the squad.
