Lisandro Martínez criticizes Manchester United leadership

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez has publicly criticized the club’s hierarchy following a 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atlético Madrid. Martínez described the loss as a “reflection of the mirror of how our club is” and expressed frustration regarding the current state of the institution.

The Argentine defender specifically singled out technical director Jason Wilcox, stating, “I expect more from our technical director.” Martínez also defended manager Michael Carrick, suggesting the coach has not been sufficiently supported by the board to build a competitive squad. He emphasized that while players must improve, the club must also invest in stronger recruitment to compete with top-tier teams.

The defeat at the Metropolitano stadium follows a period of significant struggle for United, which has secured only two wins in all competitions this season. The club is currently experiencing what has been described as its worst league campaign start in 40 years, sitting 13th in the Premier League.
