Lisbon Airport introduces fixed taxi prices to prevent fraud

Lisbon Airport has implemented a new fixed-price tariff system for taxi services to combat fraud and overcharging, issues frequently reported by tourists and residents. The measure follows a cooperation protocol signed in September by the Lisbon City Council, ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal, the Lisbon Tourism Association, the Portuguese Taxi Federation (FPT), and ANTRAL.

In this initial phase, the fixed rates apply to trips from the airport within the municipality. For vehicles carrying up to four passengers and luggage, daytime weekday rates for Zone 1 are set between 16 and 19 euros, while Zone 2 rates for nights, weekends, and holidays range from 20 to 23 euros.

Carlos Silva, president of the FPT, noted that while the tariff is active, the full system—including driver accreditation and automated license plate recognition for access control—is still being finalized. He expects the system to be fully operational by early November. Under the new rules, taxi drivers are prohibited from refusing service and must accept electronic payments and vouchers.
