Lisbon Airport security zone temporarily closed after Brazil passenger mix‑up

On 28 July 2026, the border control area of Lisbon Airport’s Terminal 1 was closed after a flight from Salvador, Brazil, disembarked passengers in the wrong zone. The Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) said the mistake sent third‑country travelers, who had not undergone EU security screening, into the restricted security zone alongside already screened passengers.

The compromised area was evacuated, all passengers—including those already on board aircraft—were re‑screened, and the zone remained shut until evacuation, security checks, and cleaning were completed. Operations resumed once safety conditions were restored.
