Lisbon approves Matinha lotting for up to 771 homes
The Lisbon City Council approved the licensing of Lotting A of the Matinha area in the Marvila district. The decision authorises the creation of 22 parcels covering a total construction area of 123,632 m², which represents 36.5 % of the overall Matinha plan, and allows the building of up to 771 residential units.
The approved scheme includes 14,608 m² of public green space, 28,252 m² of roads and infrastructure, and 450 surface parking places. Road works will remove the existing viaduct on Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa, create a new roundabout and extend Alameda dos Oceanos to link Parque das Nações with the riverfront. The project also requires certified soil decontamination of the former industrial site.
VIC Properties CEO João Cabaça described the development as one of the largest private projects in Portugal since Expo 98, with an estimated total investment of about €2 billion and a goal of delivering roughly 2,000 homes across the whole Matinha plan.
