Lisbon Glória Elevator crash: all autopsies finished, indemnity claims pending

Portugal's Ministry of Justice confirmed that every autopsy for the 16 victims of the Glória Elevator crash in Lisbon was completed within 24 hours, rejecting earlier reports that any examinations remained unfinished. The clarification was given after Socialist councilor Pedro Anastácio raised the issue during a public session of the Lisbon City Council.

The insurer Fidelidade, covering Carris, said it is handling 40 compensation files related to the accident. Two claims have been fully settled, while the remaining 38, involving injured survivors and families of the deceased, are still being processed as documentation and clinical assessments are completed. The crash, which occurred on 3 September 2025, left 16 dead and more than two dozen injured and continues to be investigated.
