Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas faces scrutiny over policy claims

Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas has faced scrutiny regarding the accuracy of several claims made about his administration's achievements. Discrepancies have been noted in his reporting of cycling infrastructure; while Moedas claimed to have established over 88km of bike lanes, municipal data and fact-checking indicate the actual figure is significantly lower, approximately 13.2km.

Additionally, Moedas's assertions regarding public transport and social initiatives have been challenged. He claimed that no other European city offers free transport to 17% of its population, despite cities like Tallinn and Luxembourg providing such services to residents. Other contested points include his credit for implementing hygiene worker subsidies, which were actually part of a government decree issued shortly after he took office, and his descriptions of local social assistance and law enforcement actions.
