Lisbon Metropolitan Transport Authority unveils school mobility solutions and real‑time GO platform

Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa (TML) met with education officials from municipalities across the Lisbon Metropolitan Area to showcase new school‑mobility initiatives. The "navegante escola" card, already in use in Cascais and Oeiras, serves both as a public‑transport ticket and a school ID, improving safety and daily management. TML also introduced the "Mini Passageiros" pilot, launched in 2025, which now operates in 12 schools and reaches about 600 children, encouraging sustainable travel habits from an early age.

At the same ceremony, TML demonstrated the GO platform, an internally developed system that centralises public‑transport management for the metropolitan area. The platform provides real‑time information on stops, routes, schedules, fares and service levels, and enables authorities to design networks from scratch and monitor operations. Attendees included Lisbon Metropolitan Council president Carlos Moedas, first‑secretary Emanuel Costa, the mayors of Odivelas and Mafra, and TML board chair Carlos Humberto de Carvalho. The platform may later be offered to other transport operators.
