Lisbon police arrest suspect wanted for armed robbery in Belgium

The Portuguese Judicial Police (PJ) arrested a 27-year-old foreign national in the Lisbon area following a European Arrest Warrant issued by Belgian authorities. The individual is wanted to serve a sentence of three years and four months for crimes committed in Antwerp, Belgium, in 2023.

The charges include armed robbery and aggravated physical assault. During the 2023 incident, the suspect and two accomplices allegedly robbed a victim of mobile phones, cash, identification documents, and a vehicle. The victim sustained serious injuries to the head and body during the assault. The stolen vehicle was later recovered in France while being driven by the suspect. The individual will be presented to the Lisbon Court of Appeal to determine necessary legal measures.
