Lisbon police chase ends in crash and fire in Algés

A police pursuit in Algés, Lisbon, resulted in a violent collision and fire on Avenida Brasília on Saturday morning. The incident began around 07:25 when a driver refused a police order to stop during a traffic inspection and fled at high speed.

During the chase, the driver lost control near the viaduct connecting Avenida Brasília to Avenida da Índia, crashing into two parked vehicles. The impact caused a fire that affected three vehicles in total. Three men, aged between 25 and 31, were injured and transported to hospitals, including Hospital de Santa Maria and Hospital São Francisco Xavier; one individual was reported to be in serious condition.

The Public Security Police (PSP) closed Avenida Brasília to clear debris and manage the scene. The driver faces potential detention for driving without a valid license, resisting authority, and coercion.
