Lisbon police order removal of children's play tent at protest site
Police officers from the Public Security Police (PSP) ordered the removal of a small tent used for children's activities at the Lisbon Camp (Acampada de Lisboa) in Rossio Square. The officers justified the intervention by stating that tents are not permitted on public roads.
Organizers of the movement defended the structure, describing it as the “Espaço Criança” (Children's Space), a designated area within the protest perimeter intended for families to participate in activities such as dancing, reading, and creative workshops. Protesters questioned the decision, asking if a space designed for children and families constitutes a threat to public order.
Despite protesters requesting a superior officer to justify the legality of the order, the tent was dismantled by demonstrators after being declared illegal by the police.
