Lisbon residents to receive discounted nighttime parking in Chiado

The Lisbon City Council has reached an agreement with operators of two underground parking garages in the Chiado district to provide monthly nighttime parking subscriptions for residents at a rate of 22 euros. The participating facilities are the Chiado Parking Garage on Rua Almirante Pessanha and the Camões Parking Garage at Praça Luís de Camões.

This measure is part of the ‘Viva a Rua’ municipal program, which aims to enhance public spaces and pedestrian circulation. The initiative has led to the widening of sidewalks on several streets, including Rua Garrett and Rua Nova do Almada, and the full pedestrianization of Rua Anchieta. As a result of these urban improvements, approximately 50 street parking spaces in the area were removed. To mitigate the impact on local inhabitants, the city is negotiating favorable conditions in the five underground garages in the area, which offer a total of approximately 1,200 spaces.
