Lisbon Stock Exchange opens lower following European market trends
The Lisbon Stock Exchange opened the session on Thursday, August 27, with a slight decline of 0.07%, reaching 9,439.75 points. This downward trend aligned with most major European markets, which also opened in the red, excluding indices in Germany and Spain.
In Portugal, notable decreases were seen in Galp Energia (-0.95%), Jerónimo Martins (-0.66%), and Sonae (-0.49%). Conversely, Banco Comercial Português (BCP) rose by 0.85%, and Mota-Engil increased by 0.86% following a reported 24% rise in profits.
Across Europe, the German DAX and Spanish IBEX 35 saw marginal gains, while the French CAC 40, British FTSE 100, and Dutch AEX experienced declines. In the commodities market, Brent crude fell by 1.78% to $85.39, and the euro showed slight appreciation against both the US dollar and the British pound.
