Lisbon transport authorities discuss new ticket types and ferry pricing

The Lisbon Metropolitan Council is set to discuss several transport and regional development initiatives. Key agenda items include the authorization for Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa (TML) to create new “Navegante” ticket types, specifically 1, 3, and 5-day passes and an “Eventos” pass. The council will also review the technical report for the Volta deposit and reimbursement system.

Separately, Transtejo Soflusa (TTSL) is proposing an increase in occasional ticket prices for the ferry route between Cais do Sodré and Cacilhas. TTSL Chairman Rui Rei argued that tourism should help finance public services, noting that over 90% of occasional tickets sold on this route are used by tourists. The goal is to reduce the company's dependence on the State Budget from 68% to 50% by updating revenues through tourism-related pricing, while maintaining current prices for monthly passes.
