Liskeard military graves neglected by council contractors

Royal Navy veteran Neil Walsh has condemned the treatment of military graves in Liskeard, alleging that routine maintenance by Cornwall Council contractors shows a "lack of respect."

Walsh, a member of the Liskeard Royal British Legion, has spent nearly five years volunteering to care for approximately 40 Commonwealth War Graves Commission and Ministry of Defence graves across St Martin’s Church and Lanchard Cemetery. He reports that twice-yearly maintenance visits by CORMAC or other subcontractors frequently leave the sites covered in debris, grass cuttings, and spoil, undoing hours of his volunteer work.

Despite a complaint made through the Royal British Legion last year, Walsh claims the promised cleanup using blowers has not occurred, leaving him to manually restore the graves to their proper standard.
