Lismore advances flood recovery through housing and infrastructure
Lismore is advancing flood recovery efforts through new housing developments and infrastructure upgrades. Families who participated in the Resilient Homes Program buyback scheme will receive priority access to new land in East Lismore. The first 19 lots at the Crawford Road site are expected to go on sale before the end of the year, with Stage 1 of the Landcom development set to deliver approximately 100 homes, including freestanding houses, duplexes, and terraces.
Simultaneously, a $16.5 million upgrade to the Browns Creek Pump Station is scheduled to begin construction in November. Funded by the Albanese Government via the $150 million Northern Rivers Recovery and Resilience Program, the project will increase the station’s capacity from 4,000 litres per second to 10,000 litres per second. This upgrade aims to improve stormwater management in the Central Business District by moving water from behind the levee more efficiently, helping to reduce localized flooding and maintain access to key transport routes and businesses during flood events.
