Cornucopian Injured at Del Mar; White Abarrio Ready for Whitney Stakes

Cornucopian, a four‑year‑old colt owned by SF Racing and trained by Bob Baffert, suffered a right‑front fetlock injury during the Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar on Saturday. The horse was pulled up by jockey Juan Hernández, fitted with a brace, and taken to an equine hospital for radiographs. California Horse Racing Board equine medical director Dr. Jeff Blea confirmed the horse is comfortable and in stable condition while a treatment plan is being developed.

Meanwhile, seven‑year‑old White Abarrio posted a solid workout at Saratoga Race Course, covering a half‑mile in 46.68 seconds under regular jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. Trainer Saffie Joseph and racing manager Mark Cornett said the horse appears physically healthy and is on track for the Grade I Whitney Stakes on August 8, which provides an automatic berth to the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
