Listeria contamination triggers food recalls in Chile and the United States

Health authorities in Chile and the United States have issued alerts regarding potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination in various food products.

In Chile, the Ministry of Health issued an urgent alert for Líder brand ham cocktail pasta (250g containers) produced by Productos Alimenticios CORBAC Ltda. The affected products have a production date of August 14, 2026, and an expiration date of September 5, 2026. Authorities recommend that consumers discard the product and monitor for symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or muscle aches.

In the United States, Made Fresh Salads, Inc., based in New York, is recalling a wide range of ready-to-eat salads, cream cheese products, and other prepared foods. The recall follows environmental testing conducted with the FDA that detected the bacteria at the company's facility. Affected items include various salads (chickpea, pesto pasta, and potato), chocolate and vanilla puddings, potato croquettes, and crab cakes, with expiration dates ranging from September 3 to September 18, 2026. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the U.S. recall to date.
