Liszt Museum to host international conference in Budapest

The Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum and Research Centre, in collaboration with the Goethe and Schiller Archives in Weimar, Heidelberg University, and the Digital Liszt project, will host an international scientific conference in Budapest. Titled ‘Between Budapest, Rome and Weimar: Source Transfers, Networks, and the Working Methods in Liszt's Late Years’, the event is scheduled for November 11–12, 2026.

The conference aims to examine how composer Franz Liszt managed his complex professional commitments and creative processes. Researchers will analyze musical sources, autographs, printed editions, and extensive correspondence, with a specific focus on Hungarian and Eastern European research and reception.

Key themes include Liszt’s relationship with Hungarian identity, his sacred and secular music, and his late-period compositional methods.
