Litecoin breaks 2026 price range amid rising momentum

Litecoin (LTC) has broken out of a price range that had constrained its recovery throughout much of 2026. The cryptocurrency recently traded at approximately $73, marking a nearly 25% increase over the week and reaching its highest price since early January.

Analysts note that the price is currently approaching a significant resistance level near $80, where a 200-week moving average and a major Fibonacci retracement level converge. Historically, the $35 to $55 region has served as a long-term structural floor for the asset during various market cycles.

Market momentum is being supported by increased leverage, with futures open interest rising to roughly $688 million. A primary driver for new demand is the upcoming launch of LitVM, a smart contract layer scheduled to debut on the mainnet in the fourth quarter. If Litecoin can sustain levels above the $145 to $155 midline, analysts suggest the market structure could transition from a recovery phase into a broader expansion cycle.
