Literary contests announced in Arica and Yervás
The 16th edition of the “Hazla Cortita” literary contest has opened in the Arica and Parinacota Region of Chile. Part of the Regional Plan for Reading, Writing, and Orality (Plan Leo), the competition challenges participants to write stories of fewer than 100 words based on local customs, landscapes, and history. The contest features three categories: students in 7th and 8th grade, high school students, and adults over 18. Submissions are accepted virtually until November 16, 2026.
In Hervás, Spain, the 24th edition of the “Víctor Chamorro” short story contest has concluded. The first prize, worth 1,000 euros, was awarded to Manuel Izquierdo Ruiz for the story “La carpa,” submitted under the pseudonym Sombra Luna. Two runner-up prizes of 250 euros each were awarded to Alberto Moreno Sánchez-Izquierdo and Juan Manuel Sainz Peña. This year's competition saw 93 entries, nearly doubling the participation from the previous year.
