The Horacio Quiroga International Short Story Contest has been relaunched in Salto, Uruguay. Organized by the Salto Government and the National Directorate of Culture, this special edition commemorates the upcoming 90th anniversary of the renowned writer's death in 2027. The competition is open to Spanish-speaking writers and enthusiasts, with a first prize of $3,500. Submissions will be accepted until December 23, 2026.
In Colombia, the ‘Reverso Bogotá 2026’ festival has opened its call for emerging voices. Led by the District Secretariat of Culture, Recreation, and Sport, the initiative will provide $100 million in incentives across 12 projects. The festival features four categories: poetry for children, youth poetry, poetry from experience, and a new oral poetry category. The oral poetry category focuses on spoken word, slam poetry, and declamation without musical accompaniment. Interested participants must submit five poems by September 1, 2026.
