Literary readings scheduled in Erkrath and Walsrode

Several literary readings are scheduled in Germany. In Erkrath, the Volkshochschule and the Erkrath City Library Association will host journalist and political scientist Arne Semsrott at the Bürgerhaus Hochdahl on November 11. Semsrott will present his new book, ‘Gegenmacht: Die Zivilgesellschaft schlägt zurück’, which explores how citizens can engage politically and socially to counter power abuse and democratic setbacks.

In Walsrode, author Anke Weber will hold a reading at the ‘mittendrin’ cultural center on November 26. The event is part of the UN ‘Orange the World’ campaign, which aims to combat violence against women. Weber will read from her short story ‘Blaufeuer’, which addresses physical violence in relationships, and her novel ‘Raucherecke’, which examines female experiences and male dominance. The evening will include a discussion and a book table to collect donations.
