Literary scholars and authors discuss the role of writing in contemporary society

During recent literary forums, scholars and authors discussed the evolving role of literature in academic and social contexts. At a conversation marking the 30th anniversary of Luvina magazine, José Javier Villarreal and Teresa González Arce explored how literature serves as an end in itself, allowing readers to encounter different perspectives and modify their own experiences through the act of reading.

At the closing of the eighth International Book Fair of University Students (Filuni) at UNAM, author Cristina Rivera Garza and poet Sara Uribe discussed the concept of writing as a process of ‘fabricating the present.’ Rivera Garza emphasized that contemporary writing is a collective and material process that intervenes in current time and questions established forms of reading and writing, linking the act of writing to material conditions and the land.
