Literary works explore the personal histories of Augusto Roa Bastos and art masters

The Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) will host the presentation of ‘Libros perdidos de Augusto Roa Bastos’. The work, published by the Roa Bastos Foundation, is based on an investigation into books recovered from the trash that were subsequently delivered to the author's family by Celina Brittez.

These volumes, once part of the personal library of the Paraguayan writer, allow researchers to reconstruct the intellectual history and genealogy of his work. The investigation, led by Carla Fernandes and Daniel Balderston with collaboration from Mirta Roa, uses annotations and marks found within the books to reveal Roa Bastos’s working methods and intellectual influences.

In separate literary news, art historian Miguel Calvo has released ‘Historiones del arte’ through Planeta. The book aims to humanize universal art by focusing on the personal anecdotes, struggles, and passions of famous artists, moving away from traditional, formal art manuals to provide a more accessible narrative.
