Literary Writing Contests Highlight Creativity in Chile and Colombia

In the Araucanía region of Chile, the sixth edition of the "Mi Comuna en 100 Palabras" competition was celebrated at the Biblioteca Municipal de Teodoro Schmidt. Winners included Marcela del Carmen Castillo (children's category), Damian Azocar (youth), and Adriana del Carmen Morales (adult). Mayor Baldomero Santos praised the event for strengthening local culture and memory.

Meanwhile, Colombia's national writing contest for 2026, themed “Historias de Paz,” entered its final judging phase. After reviewing 6,533 entries from across the country, a jury led by La Profe Mónica will select 40 winning texts to be announced on 5 August at Bogotá's Biblioteca Pública Virgilio Barco. The competition is organized by the Ministerio de Educación Nacional with support from the Universidad Industrial de Santander.
