Literature events feature new book presentations in Paraguay and Spain
Writer Irina Ráfols will present her novel ‘Abulio, el inútil’ on August 29 at Eclipsia in Paraguay. Originally published in 2005, the book is being re-released by the publisher Arandurã. The story follows the existential struggles of Abulio, a character who retreats to the mountains to escape worldly obligations, only to find himself tasked with building a pagoda and deciphering mysterious messages.
In Spain, journalist and author Fernando Moreno will present his fourth novel, ‘La camarera del Embassy’, on September 3 at the San Andrés Castle in Carboneras. The novel is set in post-war Madrid and explores the contrast between luxury and hardship during the European conflict. It centers on the Embassy tea salon, which served as a front for a British intelligence network helping refugees escape Nazi terror.
