Litfiba celebrates 40th anniversary of '17 Re' with concert in Pescara
The Italian rock band Litfiba performed at the Marina di Pescara tourist port on 5 July 2026, marking the 40th anniversary of their 1986 album "17 Re". The historic line‑up – front‑man Piero Pelù, guitarist Ghigo Renzulli, keyboardist Antonio Aiazzi, bassist Gianni Maroccolo and drummer Luca Martelli – played the album’s classic tracks as part of the Terrasound festival.
Fans travelled from across Abruzzo and neighboring regions to attend the show, which blended nostalgic rock with current political commentary. From the stage Pelù addressed ongoing wars, climate change, and domestic politics, concluding with an antifascist salute, waving the Italian flag and shouting “Viva l’Italia libera e antifascista.” Local politician Guerino Testa of Fratelli d’Italia criticised Pelù’s political remarks, arguing that culture should remain free of ideology.
The event highlighted Litfiba’s lasting influence on Italian rock and sparked discussion about the role of musicians in political discourse.
