POSCO and partners inaugurate new lithium carbonate plants in Argentina

POSCO, Río Tinto, and Galan Lithium have inaugurated new lithium carbonate plants in Antofagasta de la Sierra. Additionally, POSCO has reached a milestone with the inauguration of Plant II as part of the Sal de Oro Project, located in the Salar del Hombre Muerto.

The Sal de Oro Project's second phase plant has an estimated annual capacity of approximately 23,000 tons of lithium carbonate, with all production intended for export. POSCO expects a ramp-up period throughout 2027 to reach full design capacity. This development is part of a broader push to consolidate lithium production in the Salta, Catamarca, and Tucumán regions.
