Lithium sector faces sell-off amid global demand concerns
The lithium sector is experiencing significant downward pressure due to concerns regarding global demand for electric vehicle batteries. This widespread sell-off has impacted major industry players such as Albemarle and SQM, as well as smaller development companies.
Standard Lithium saw its shares drop by 9.5 percent to 1.64 euros, approaching its 52-week low. While the company continues to advance industrial projects in Arkansas, its future cash flows and financing remain heavily dependent on global lithium carbonate prices.
Similarly, Li-FT Power shares fell by 2.2 percent to 1.32 euros, following the broader industry trend. Despite the market volatility, Li-FT Power recently announced that its Yellowknife lithium project and planned lithium carbonate conversion plant were included in the investment prospectus for the Canada Investment Summit, an effort to attract institutional interest as Canada seeks to expand its domestic critical mineral value chain.
